Which Type of Yacht Suits Your Group?
Shared dive liveaboards sell individual cabins and usually follow scheduled diving itineraries. They're not private charters. Crewed catamarans and sailing yachts offer a more intimate style of cruising, although availability and cabin arrangements vary. Confirm local availability. Motor yachts suit groups seeking private dining, crewed service and the flexibility to move between anchorages. Larger superyachts add more suites, social space and sometimes dedicated dive-support craft. Look beyond length: compare cabins, capacity, crew and facilities.

What Do Maldives Yacht Rentals Cost in 2026?
Published broker listings illustrate how widely advertised weekly rates can differ: Maldives-based crewed yachts: examples advertised from approximately €35,000–€50,000 per week. Premium motor yachts: examples around €50,000–€120,000 or more per week. Visiting international superyachts: examples from €140,000 to well over €600,000 per week. These are indicative advertised prices, not fixed market tariffs or Azalea quotations. Availability, season, yacht specifications and contract terms change the final figure. Smaller sailing yachts, catamarans and day charters require separate quotations; don't compare a shared cabin fare with exclusive use of a whole yacht. Request a full Maldives yacht charter quote for your dates.
03
What About APA, Taxes and Extras?
Some crewed-yacht operators use an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), often around 25–35% of the base charter fee. On a €50,000 base rate, a 25–35% APA would be €12,500–€17,500 paid in advance. It's an operating fund, not an automatic surcharge. The captain accounts for expenses such as fuel, provisioning and berthing; unused money is returned and overspending is settled under the contract. Other charters use inclusive packages or itemised extras, with no APA at all. Maldives Tourism Goods and Services Tax (TGST) is 17% in 2026, following the increase effective 1 July 2025. For stays aboard tourist vessels, Green Tax is US$12 per person per day of stay, with children under two exempt. Confirm whether these taxes are already included in the quoted amount. For perspective, a €50,000 charter price excluding TGST would attract €8,500 in TGST before other applicable costs. If the price already includes GST, don't add it again. Ask separately about fuel, transfers, activities, specialist equipment and gratuities.

When Is the Best Season?
January to March is generally the drier northeast-monsoon period; December and April are transition months. The southwest monsoon, usually from mid-May into November, brings more variable rain and wind. Peak holiday periods can mean stronger demand and higher prices. Wetter months may offer attractive itineraries, including seasonal manta-ray activity in Baa Atoll, but sightings and weather are never guaranteed. Protected sites such as Hanifaru Bay have controlled access and rules. Choose dates around your priorities, not an unrealistic promise of perfect seas.
05
What Could Your Itinerary Look Like?
One day: Add a private charter to a resort holiday, with coordinated resort collection, swimming, lunch aboard and time on deck. Three nights: Enjoy an overnight anchorage, explore nearby reefs and leave room for unhurried mornings. Seven nights: Depending on weather and cruising permissions, combine Malé-area atolls with Ari Atoll for diving, snorkelling and sandbank stops. Longer trips may add seasonal Baa Atoll experiences. Routes depend on the captain's assessment of conditions.

Five Booking Questions That Matter
Before paying a deposit, confirm the exact yacht, exclusive-use status, maximum guests and cabin layout. Request a written inclusions list covering meals, crew, fuel, water activities and transfers. Ask whether GST and Green Tax are included, whether APA applies, and how any balance is reconciled. Check cancellation terms, payment deadlines and arrangements when weather changes the route. Good planning begins with your interests, not a fixed itinerary.
